Molecular sieves are synthetic zeolite materials engineered with pores of precise and uniform structure and size. This allows them to preferentially adsorb gases and liquids based on molecular size and polarity. Zeolites are naturally existing, highly porous crystalline solids, belonging to the class of chemicals known as aluminosilicates.

There are four main types of molecular sieves: 3A, 4A, 5A, and 13X. The type is dependent on the chemical formula, and it determines the pore size of the molecular sieve. A molecular sieve works by adsorbing gas or liquid molecules that are smaller than the effective diameter of its pores, while excluding those molecules that are larger than the openings.

3A molecular sieve: mainly used as a desiccant for unsaturated hydrocarbons, such as petroleum cracking gas, ethylene, butadiene; polar liquids, such as methanol, ethanol, and refrigerant; deep drying of kerosene andaviation engines; nitrogen and hydrogen Drying of mixed gas. Desiccant for petrochemical industry, vacuumglass and other industries.

4A molecular sieve: one of the most used molecular sieves in the industry. It is mainly used for the deepdrying of air, natural gas, alkanes, refrigerants and other gases and liquids; the production and purification ofargon; the static of pharmaceutical packaging, electronic components and perishable substances drying, dehydrating agent in paints, dyes, and coatings.

5A molecular sieve: It can adsorb normal hydrocarbons and alcohol gases. It has high stability in weak acidmedium. It can be used for drying and refining of petroleum, chemical, natural gas and other industrial gases.

13X molecular sieve: It can adsorb molecules with a larger critical diameter. It is mainly used for the dryingand purification of gas and the purification of raw material gas for air installations. It can effectively adsorbcarbon dioxide, water, organic sulfur compounds and other substances in the air.

CMS carbon molecular sieve: The main component of it is elemental carbon, and the appearance is a black columnar solid. Because it contains a large number of micropores with a diameter of 4 angstroms, the micropores have a strong instantaneous affinity for oxygen molecules and can be used to separate oxygenand nitrogen in the air. The pressure swing adsorption device (PSA) is used in industry to produce nitrogen.
